Description
We meet in Kvarnberg – in one of the most bear dense areas of Sweden. Here we meet Andrea or Gunther who are working with bear research since 1998. They take us through an exhibition where we get an introduction on how research on wildlife bears is done. When we have learned how to immobilize a bear we head for the bear area and visit some interesting spots where bears had been during a longer period and where we find lots of tracks after them. We visit a recently used den where we search for traces from the female and the cubs. We will also look for hair and scat samples and collect some data for the research. Some of the bears in the area have been radio marked. You can try the method that is used for localizing them without disturbing them. After some fundamental information about the bears’ life we continue to a scenic spot and have dinner by a campfire in the wilderness. Here we have the opportunity to ask more questions about research and the bears. With thrilling stories, fresh coffee and information on how to behave in case of a bear encounter we round off this experience full tour into the wilderness and leave the bear area and get back to civilization.
